So, in the interest of coming up with a wacky fan theory that also fits in with a show about a newly married couple, what happens if Vision has to entertain his in-laws for dinner? How will Vision deal with having to have beers with Wanda’s dad? If you answered: He’ll deal with it the way all husbands do; by getting drunk, you’re partially right. But you’d also be missing the fact that Wanda’s dad, at least in the Marvel comics, is none other than Magneto! In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the origin of Quicksilver and Wanda (AKA Scarlett Witch) has been kept vague, and that’s because at the time these characters joined the Avengers in the film Age of Ultron (2015) the rights to X-Men movies were still with Fox, which means mentions of the X-Men outright in an MCU movie weren’t allowed. This is also why there was a Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in Age of Ultron, and a different Quicksilver (Evan Peters) in X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014). Both Quicksilvers are named Peter Maximoff, the brother of Wanda Waximoff. And yes, in the X-Men movies it’s pretty clear that Magneto is the dad, even though there was no bizzaro Wanda in those movies. ANYWAY. These days the movie rights to the X-Men are now controlled by Disney, which means the X-Men can be rebooted into the MCU movies. Some people (like me) have mentioned that Wanda’s Scarlet Witch costume in the press photos could have hinted at an X-Men crossover, but, in light of the new trailer, it seems like that’s just a Halloween costume that is an inside-joke for comic book fans. (Vision’s Halloween costume is also a callback to his retro comic book outfit.) But you know what wouldn’t be an inside joke for comic book fans? An actual X-Men crossover that starts with Magneto, Wanda’s father, showing up their house for dinner. This could be the greatest twist in the entire show! You think it’s going to be a zany dinner party episode, but it turns out its Magneto! Wait. Is Vision made of metal? Any metal of any kind? Let’s hope not. WandaVision (hopefully) hits Disney+ on in December 2020. If the Magneto crossover described above actually happens, we didn’t mean to spoil it. We honestly didn’t know. It’s just wishful thinking and we’re very excited about WandaVision.
